And clocking up an impressive 30 years is Mrs P from Buzz Plymouth, but clocking up a staggering 50 years and achieving legend status is bingo caller Billy, at Buzz Washington

To celebrate his mammoth commitment the club hosted Billy’s Bingo Bash, a party dedicated to the legend.

Billy, who wanted to be a bingo caller from a young age, began his career in 1973 when he bagged his first job at Empire Bingo in Houghton Le Spring, Sunderland. Since then, he has worked at a number of different clubs in the North East but finally found his place when Buzz Bingo in Washington, opened its doors in 1994, as Gala Bingo.

One of the first employees at the club, Billy has countless fond memories of his 29 years at the club. Some of his favourites are the Bus Trips he used to take with the locals at the weekend and the Cabaret Shows the team would put on for the customers every Saturday night.

When asked how he feels about celebrating his Golden Anniversary of bingo calling, Billy said: “I feel on top of the world! I love my job and I am lucky that I get the chance to do what I love every day. I’ll never tire of the atmosphere during a busy bingo session and there’s no better feeling than announcing a big win – everyone goes crazy.

“I have no plans of retiring any time soon, I hope to keep going for a few more years yet!”

CONGRATULATIONS  to all!
